1913 年 K.C. Douglas 在密西西比州的農場家庭出生和長大,深受 20 年代密西西比三角洲藍調藝人 Tommy Johnson 的唱片影響, 1934 年他離家到 Grenada 與 Carthage 等城鎮展開音樂工作,兩年後 KC 如願見到 Tommy Johnson, Johnson 被他低沉的嗓音與吉他技巧吸引,兩人開始在街角和派對中同台表演.

1945 年 KC 搬到加州的 Vallejo,在海軍造船廠上班,有幾年他受到三蕃市/奧克蘭的藍調音樂吸引, 1947 年遂自組名為 the Lumberjacks 的藍調樂團,隔年 K.C. Douglas 首張專輯便於奧克蘭當地廠牌 Downtown 旗下發行,並持續在許多小 pub 裡唱唱跳跳,有時會與另一位藍調樂手 Jesse Fuller 一起表演.

50 年代與 60 年代的 KC 在音樂表演場合中掙得微薄薪資,還做過各式各樣的工作, 1963 年他在 Berkeley 公家機關上班,直到 70 年代中期.



60 年代他為 Bluesville 與 Fantasy 廠牌錄製的歌曲如 Born in the Country, Catfish Blues, Fanny Lou, Hear Me Howlin', K.C.'s Doctor Blues, Wake Up Workin' Woman,均沒有達到事業高峰. 1961 年在 Bluesville 旗下發行的專輯 K.C.'s Blues (上圖左),正值藍調文藝復興風潮,同一年 Douglas 也灌錄另一張專輯 Big Road Blues (上圖右),兩者不同的是, Big Road Blues 收錄許多歌曲,仍是 KC 向 Tommy Johnson 學得的歌, K.C.'s Blues 則大部分由自己填詞譜曲,原創性質強,評價也最高.推薦曲 Broken Heart, Born in the Country, Love Me All Night Long.

1970 年 KC 在 Berkeley 藍調音樂節的演出,博得觀眾青睞,隨後他組了一個四重奏,在東岸 / Modesto / Stockton 的咖啡館,俱樂部,小酒吧展開常態演出, 1973 年與 1974 年在廠牌 Arhoolie 旗下灌錄一些唱片.

1975 年 10 月 K.C. Douglas 因心臟病突發於加州往生,享年 62 歲.遺體下葬在出生地密西西比 Sharon 的 Pleasant Green 墓園.
